Holiday snaps - Switzerland

On our way south through Europe, we stayed a couple of nights at Balmer's youth hostel in Interlaken. The only beds left were in a 10-bed room, and we weren't too thrilled about that. Anyway, the place turned out surprisingly nice.

In the morning we rented mountainbikes and went on a trip up to the alps.

After biking about 10 kilometers, we reached Lauterbrunnen. This village lies in a valley surrounded by steep mountains. And there's this waterfall, almost in the middle of the village...

Here we've just left Lauterbrunnen on our way to the ski resort Wengen.

A great place for a picnic, providing some shade and a nice view of the valley below.

Here we're quite high, but probably not even halfway to Wengen. The difference in altitude between Lauterbrunnen and Wengen is over 450 meters...
